Positive Affirmations Transformed My Life
Years ago, I was in my bathroom in the middle of the night crying hysterically but at the same time, quietly into a towel so no one could hear me. This was the most desperate moment in my life.
That week I went into full panic mode and was full of absolute uncontrollable anxiety. I woke up one morning and just said to myself out loud….. STOP and figure this shit out now.
I quickly took myself through many directions to try to start to cope with my challenges, fears and sorrows. The path that struck me the most fascinating right off the bat was one that led me to start to talk to myself all the time in a very sweet, calm and positive way.
Positive affirmations helped me heal
“Affirmations are positive statements that can help you to challenge and overcome self-sabotaging and negative thoughts. When you repeat them often, and believe in them, you can start to make positive changes”.
Defined by Louise Hay, they are like seeds, you plant them by creating them, you water them through repetition, and then they grow into beautiful flowers, changing your life.
I woke up shortly thereafter and my first affirmation to myself was “I am going to be OK”. This was quickly followed by “I am doing the best that I can” and that led to “I am right where I am supposed to be”. The most important one for me to this day: “I love and accept myself”.
It was working instantly. I had sticky notes everywhere to remind me of who I am and where I was going. I have learned that these affirmations just take the good and bad vibrations that we all experience to a higher level. If I radiate positivity and focus on looking at moments with optimism and walk around with an open mind to new experiences and challenges, I really feel an energy/spirit from this planet that gives me more out of life, relationships and emotions.
I AM going to be OK.
I remember one of the first trips I went on shortly after this all started, I landed and got off the plane and said to myself “I am going to attract beautiful, authentic, trustworthy and kind people into my life from now on.” That day, on a tour bus to an olive farm in California, I ended up sitting beside the most amazing woman, purely by chance. There was an immediate bond and special comfort that existed and to this day, a positive energy from her and her husband that I am so grateful for.
Now it is all effortless, simple and unassuming. I can take this with me anywhere and say something positive anytime! Whether they are affirmations for work, love, friendship, family, anxiety, fitness and health, they are making my journey much more manageable and I have a tool to give me the power to keep believing. The proof is in the pudding and I have created a life full of love, traditions and memories to last me a lifetime from all my lessons learned.
