Tips From A Mom

Posted in 2018, Choices, mothers day.Tagged , , .

First and foremost: thank you to all the moms out there who inspire me to be the best momma I can be. By watching them I get motivated and by listening I get inspired. Of course, my amazing mom is the one who taught me everything I know and practice today. I miss her so much and cherish the memories I have and the love I carry with me everyday. Now that I have children of my own, I can, and I do take her life lessons to heart. I share them with gratitude and love as I pass them on.

Here are a few tips from a mom (my mom):

Be Strong and  Stand Up For What You Believe In

Do this no matter what the price. I experience events that demonstrate to me that what is right is definitely not always what is easiest. My mom always said when you stand up for what you believe in, you are your own person and you are in charge of what you do. As a result, you get to decide what you want and what you like. She led by example and by doing this the result made other people’s lives better.

Family is First

It’s okay to put your family first. Your profession will always be there. Your children’s childhood won’t. I was so lucky as my mom was always there for me and never missed anything. I now, finally, understand why as I am a mother myself. The joy is just as much for me as it is for my child when I am there for a practice, tournament, meet or a semiformal. Sometimes it can be as simple as giving comfort and support. Sometimes it is simply just to cook and bake! Creating these memories and these traditions instills standards and morals that I truly believe in.

Dream

You can be anything you want if you have a dream and follow your heart. My mom always encouraged me by reminding me of what I always wanted to do, and if I do it, I will experience things I never could have envisioned. Along with that, there is the added benefit of becoming a very courageous little person who then becomes an inspiration to those around you. When I dream, I realize the unbelievable events I’m capable of completing. This leads to me liking myself more and makes me want to develop my life into the most beautiful, stunning way possible. Consequently, my happiness, cheerfulness and positivity will become infectious. People will smile and laugh more around me and vice versa. My mom always reminded me that every single action I take has incredible value. It brings me closer to my dream.  The end result, she always would say, is that I will love me so much more!

Work Hard

Don’t ever give up. Keep at it. Work, work, work! It is so fulfilling whether your work is at home, in an office or takes you travelling around the world. Its quite amazing to be able to see my mom still working hard from heaven above as she sends me tiny hearts from heaven, hearts of love and support that I constantly find around me. They are reminders of what she gives me as a parent to guide me through the good and the bad!

Say “I Love You”

My mom always said it; 50 times a day maybe! We must always say I love you; to your family, to your friends and to anyone in your life who matters. When I think of the individuals who made the most significant impact in my life, it was not their know-how or accomplishments that provided me with the path, guidance and encouragement I needed to achieve my goals. It was their genuine, honest, steadfast confidence and belief in me; their words and actions let me know how much I mattered. The people in our life want that same validation. We are all similar in that we share the common desire to be important in a life. Just say I love you!

This To Shall Pass

It will be OK, somehow and someway. The difficulty that you are suffering will indeed pass away, just as difficulties have passed for others before you. It also means that the greatness you can be experiencing at any moment, will ultimately diminish and be forgotten.  This phrase was used by my mom so many times to comfort me when I was suffering through challenging moments, but to also remind me that all the good things pass as well so we must be incredibly grateful for when they are there and live them to the fullest.

So what have I learned?

Most importantly, I do not compare my life with others, but I spend it with others. This is my life and I make the time to do what I want and spend it with who I choose. As a result, I depend on myself to live it to the fullest. My mom trained me well and always emphasized how important it is to enjoy your loved ones, your close friends, and your family.

Don’t ever have any excuses. Surround yourself well. Thank you MOM for the tips!
